Our children have different types of intelligences. They develop some more than others, but there is no reason to be alarmed. It is only our son or daughter expressing their interests and affinities. There are mechanisms and ways to develop the other types of intelligences, which at the moment they may not show so much affinity for.
The identification of each of the intelligences is an important tool for the integral and harmonious development of our children. At Ameyali School we rely on this tool for the proper development of students, within the framework of the basic pillars of the school's educational process.
We will now present the different types of intelligence which we are referring to:
• Linguistic-verbal intelligence. It refers to the understanding of the order and meaning of words in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
• Logical-mathematical intelligence. For a long time it was considered as the only intelligence. It involves the ability to solve logical problems, compression, production and reading of mathematical symbols.
• Musical intelligence. It involves the functions linked to musical interpretation, transformation, evaluation and composition.
• Spacial intelligence. It is the understanding, manipulation and modification of the configurations of space. It involves seeing space and objects from different angles and perspectives.
• Body-kinesthetic intelligence. It is the ability to use the body, totally or partially, in the manipulation of tools or body expression. It involves strength, speed, flexibility, eye-hand coordination and balance.
• Interpersonal intelligence. It is the ability or facility to interact or develop activities with other people or teamwork.
• Intrapersonal intelligence. It is the ability to know oneself; understand and explain one's feelings; direct actions towards the proposed goals.
• Naturalist intelligence. It is the understanding, detection and categorization of the elements of the environment; in particular, of the phenomena of nature, climate, geography.
It should be noted that it is not about pigeonholing children who develop one or the other intelligence; it is all about their identity and promotion so that they discover their abilities and are able to solve different types of problems.
Through an integral and humanistic education, at Colegio Ameyali students discover their potential and the ways to develop it to the fullest.
